We’re having a great time away, but this is the first time we’ve had any internet, so hoping to be around a little bit more this next week. Hope you are all having a wonderful weekend.
We lived in Iowa for five years, and these photos make me homesick for the landscape. People don’t understand how varied and complex prairie can be, how spectacular the horizon can appear.
Your barn photos are lovely. I wonder if you have seen any of the round barns of Iowa?
I love the barns – I have just been rereading Little House on the Prairie – I know it is not Iowa, but to my ignorant English mind it all seems to fit together – all those wide open landscapes. I could do with a barn like that to store feed and kit!
I just love old barns, so driving through Iowa was a real treat. I can only imagine how many more gorgeous barns there were, but we only saw the ones off of the interstate.
Sarah, I don’t think I saw any round barns, but they sure sound neat.
I grew up in Iowa and miss it terribly! Thank you for posting these pictures! We have a “round top” barn on our family farm and these just make me impatient to when I get to move back there!

Round barns? Cool, Sarah.
Jennifer, lovely photos as usual.

More wonderful pictures, they give such a sense of the landscape to someone who has never been there.
What beautiful barns – we live in a converted barn ( a black one) but I love the colour and shape of those Iowa barns.
gorgeous snow dusted pictures. x
