Birthday Bunting

birthday buntingI am in the middle of last minute crafting for my little one’s fifth birthday, and this is one project that is now complete. She is growing up so fast, and boy is she excited about her birthday. I am not a big fan of buying a bunch of decorations to be used for one day and then to be tossed, so I was thrilled when I saw the idea of making homemade decorations that would last indefinitely. It is such a simple idea, I don’t know why I never thought of it. This bunting is made out of vintage fabrics, with some more handmade bias tape. My little one is so excited and loves the idea of decorating with it. I love the fact that years down the road she will be able to look at these decorations and have such wonderful memories of all the birthdays gone by.

Not only that, I think that you are instilling a lifelong love of crafting and creativity in her. And when her friends see her cool party gear, they will wish they had a crafty mom like you too!

What lovely bunting – the vintage fabrics are so gorgeous! We have a set with ‘Happy Birthday’ appliqued on that we get out each time one of us has a birthday. I made them about 5 years ago and I get up first so they are hung up before the birthday boys get up – they really make the day feel extra special – only problem is I never want to take them down! Hope your little one has a really wonderful day – 5 is such a great age to be 🙂

urban craft, I sure hope she gets a lifelong crafting bug, it is so much fun.

Emily, I know what you mean, I can definitely see some non-birthday bunting being made to permanently decorate the girls room.

    Hi Jennifer,
Your blog is lovely. I am amazed you can accomplish anything at all with 4 kiddos and homeschooling. Where do you find the time!? I have a 3 1/2 year old and an 8 month old, and most days I can’t even remember my own name. 🙂
