Stockings
Up until last year, we all had a hodge podge of stockings. I really wanted our whole family to have handmade stockings, and I wanted the kids to have a part in making them. I purchased one of those little knitting looms and found some directions and we all pitched in and made these stockings. I was thrilled with how they turned out and the kids loved taking turns working the rounds. It was so much fun making them and I just love the look. They make me think of Little House on the Prairie, which just makes me smile.
I’ve been meaning to knit stockings for the past few years. Yours are simply perfect! Now feeling very inspired. Perhaps this will be the year I finally get round to it (after Christmas of course!). K x
Lovely! Watching Little House on the Prairie with you and your brother when you were just babes will always be a favorite memory of mine. Who knew that you would grow up and have your own Little House on the Prairie one day.
Such cute stockings!
I’ve popped over from Posy, lovely to find a new blog to read!x
love them! must share details, i would like to make some of my own!! {found your blog via sarah jane’s blog}
oh my these are adorable! love the colors.
Those are awesome! And they look so cute all lined up in a row. I bet they look even better hanging on the mantle.
Thanks everybody, I really love them, they make Christmas feel more cozy somehow.
A fabulous idea…
Love handmade stocking…they make it seem so much more special…
and liked reading you last post too…
I am so glad you are feeling better and your children are happy and healthy…
There is always so much to be thankful for…
They’re very cute. But what is a knitting loom? (pardon my ignorance)
Oh these are so lovely. Very “Little House” ( I love those books so much – have you read “The Long Winter”? ) I have seen a beautiful stocking pattern that, like lots of other things, I’ve earmarked to do next year! 🙂
Wow these look great! I need to get out my knitting needles and do some work, there are Christmas gifts waiting to be made!!!
How fantastic that the kids got to join in too – makes them really, really special! x
Anna, the one we used is basically a plastic circle with pegs sticking out the top. You wrap the yarn around each peg and then with a special hook you pull the bottom yarn up and over. It’s a much easier way for little ones to knit. Except for the toe and heel, they pretty much did most of the work. They loved it.
Jennifer these are darling. I myself am working on stockings and still crossing my fingers that I will finish in time. How nice it will be to see all those hanging together this holiday.
oh my gosh, cutest ever!!!!
