One thing I read somewhere that was really helpful was just asking to take your groceries "naked" when you have forgotten to bring your bags. Then when you get to your van, or even when you get home for that matter, grab your bags and load everything into them (to carry them inside). I've done this a few times because I hate to take a plastic bag now, knowing I don't have to. It was really funny one time at Target I forgot my bags--we had just bought bras and undies for my daughter and ended up carrying them out to the parking lot "bare." We got a good laugh out of it and she was a good sport.

We do that too! we have a closet full of cloth/reusable bags and yet somehow I still manage to forget them often.
Denise--putting your kids in charge is genius!
Good luck!

If you put your kids in charge of making sure to remember bring the bags in the store (or tell you to "Remember the bags, Mom", I bet you'll always have them ready to use. Kids love to either have the responsibility or boss their parents, whichever one works for you.

What a wonderful plan. I love the idea of making small changes that add up big time. Good luck with your challenge.

How weird I have just added a fold up bag to my everyday handbag. It does make it more bulky but I too was noticing a few plastic bags sneaking in now that I don't take the push chair with me all the time! Good plan- I hope many more join you.

Thanks ginny, I actually set up a Morsbag pod a couple of years ago and have handed quite a few out since then. It's a great thing, I should have remembered to post about it.

Thanks for the info; I am going to check into that - it's a good idea.

About your thermostat comment - glad to hear my husband and I are not the only ones who do this. Our home is heated with oil and it's very costly too. We keep the thermostat in between 59*-63* depending on whats going on, usually it sits around 60*. Every time someone comes over, we always have to hear how crazy we are that we keep it 'so low'!
