My New Best Friend

big bowl This was one of my Christmas gifts, isn’t it great? It’s huge, and I mean huge. The diameter is 12 inches and it’s about 6 1/2 inches deep. I have been using it constantly since I got it. It is perfect for mixing up a cake and because it’s so big, even the most exuberant of mixing by the kiddos doesn’t splash outside of it. Yesterday I used it to serve up mashed potatoes and they were dwarfed by the size of the bowl. I love it, it has become my new best friend. It has so much more character than a plain glass bowl, don’t you think? What are your favourite kitchen items?

  1. I love bowls and I would have to say that is a great gift.

  2. Now that is a proper mixing bowl! Wow it’s giganormous!

Happy New Year, I am glad you liked the Paris pics.

    YOU HAVE TO GO!

Hmmmm, kitchen equipment, well I like all things spotty and Emma Bridgewater china, do you have that? google her, I especially like the garden scheme mugs, sorry waffling!

    Love Sarah x

Sarah, I have seen Emma’s china, gorgeous. I will have to try to find her garden scheme mugs to look at.

Fantastic Bowl! I have been banned from buying any more kitchen stuff šŸ™ But I did have a mezzaluna and oak board from the Jamie Oliver range for Christmas and I am having great fun discovering what I can do with it!

What a great bowl! My mother-in-law has several similar to those and I love them. I mostly have plain glass pyrex ones that we got when we first married. I’ve been on the lookout at thrift stores for something like that but not sure that I’ll run across something so nice there.

  6. It is beautiful!!! My favorite kitchen item is the new Dutch Oven that my hubby got me for Christmas <3

  7. Anna, Sydney says:

Oh I luv luv LUV it! I currently use some very awful green plastic things my partner brought with him to our shared household. Can’t believe I’m still using them after 2.5 years…gah!

  8. French Knots says:

I love Nigella Lawson’s range, lovely duck egg blue goodies but a bit pricey for me!
Great mixing bowl, just what you need to make big cakes!

  10. Leonie Guld says:

Oh…how funny I have one almost exactly the same!! I LOVE IT!!

  11. Petit Filoux says:

My new potato masher! The old one was rubbish, it didn’t keep straight and strong so made the mashing a whole lot harder!! Lovely bowl! Happy new year by the way, I’ve been away from blogland, but loving catching up with everyone now! x

  12. Amy says:

I have a gigantic kitchen bowl too, and I love it. But my favorite thing is this vintage glass pitcher I once scored.

  13. Sandie says:

2 Le Creuset frying pans I bought last year – started with just 1 but it was so good I had to get another.

  14. Jennifer says:

Thanks everybody, it was a lot of fun seeing what you guys love. I have one more kitchen goodie to share with you soon.

  15. Joyful says:

I had a bowl just exactly like it. http://snapthatpenny.blogspot.com/2009/12/getting-in-swing-of-recycling.html

I am decluttering so I gave it to the goodwill. For the last several years I have been using it as my fruit bowl because it is large enough to hold a lot of fruit. Unfortunately the bowl was rather heavy and it is too stressful on my wrist joints. I’m glad you like your bowl. Things are so much simpler, esp. in the kitchen when we like our gadgets and things šŸ™‚
