We keep three raggy old elderberry trees in a corner of our garden for making elderflower cordial and elderberry syrup. The syrup is wonderful for winter infections We fill a glass 1/3 full and top up with hot water--the most comforting drink imaginable and it coats the throat and stops coughing and soreness.
